I-TEN DESIGNS home office.
Home Office
PROJECT
LOCATION
Raleigh, North Carolina.
DETAILS
The home office for the founder of I-TEN DESIGNS is influenced by her experience visiting Auguste Rodin’s museums. The conceptual framework was developed by studying Rodin’s design process for his plaster & bronze sculptures. The spatial relationship between artifact and the built environment was inspired by visiting the Rodin Museum in Paris, France and the Rodin collection at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The emerging concept for the home office design explored negative & positive spaces, the circulation between the user and the art form, and the high contrast between the sculptures and the museum environment. The objective was to decrease visual mass to emphasize the design process in the studio.
Additional key design element included:
– Flexibility in design with modular units for base cabinetry
– Dedicated printer and filing cabinets
– Table scale to accommodate digital & analogous work flow
Sustainability considerations included energy efficient LED lighting for optimal material viewing, access to natural daylight, reusable modular design, and soft close drawers & cabinetry for noise reduction.
